Fratelli Alinari

The MNAF. Museo Nazionale Alinari della Fotografia will inaugurate its new headquarters in the prestigious premises of the former Leopoldine convent in Piazza S. Maria Novella in Florence during the year 2006.
The City of Florence, as part of a more general project for the renovation of the fifteenth-century building known as 'Leopoldine' of which it is owner, has earmarked the entire structure for use as an exhibition center. Fratelli Alinari. Foundation for the History of Photography has stipulated an agreement with the City and has been granted the use of part of these spaces for the Alinari National Museum of Photography.
The project plans for the restoration and outfitting of the rooms granted by the City to the Alinari National Museum of Photography in keeping with the requirements of a modern space devoted to photography.
Although the Museum will be totally autonomous, it will obviously be connected to the exhibition activities promoted by the other institutions expected to find space in the 'Leopoldine museum center', making the 'Leopoldine' one of the most prestigious cultural and exhibition centers for the city of Florence and for Italy.
