The Fitzwilliam Museum - Cambridge University


The Fitzwilliam Museum is the art museum of the University of Cambridge. It was founded in 1816 by the bequest of the VIIth Viscount Fitzwilliam of Merrion and contains magnificent collections of works of art and antiquities of national importance.




The Museum has:
  • approximately 500,000 physical objects;
  • approximately 100,000 electronic records (collection catalogue) relating to the 500,000 physical objects;
  • approximately 35,000 of the above 100,000 records have associated digital images; and
  • approximately 50,000 electronic records representing the Sylloge of Coins of the British Isles and Early Medieval Corpus.

The collections catalogue is available online and via OAI.

We have been a BRICKS member from its inception and are interested in exploring ways to provide broader or better access to our electronic resources.
