Canoo

Canoo Engineering AG was founded in 1999. Since then it has established itself as one of the top providers for complex Web applications in Switzerland. Canoo offers both IT services and a range of highly innovative products, including the linguistic products WMTrans [WMTrans, 2003] and Canoo.net [Pedrazzini & Knapp, 2003]. As a spin-off of the Basel University, Canoo has a long-standing experience in the execution of applied research and in the transformation of research results into competitive products.

Canoo Engineering AG is one of the major providers or morphological data and software in the German-speaking area. It is currently extending its product line to include components for the processing of English [Tschichold, 2000], Italian [Bopp, 1992] and other European languages. Canoo products have been successfully integrated into a whole range of customer products and applications; reference customers who rely on Canoo products and know –how are e.g. Google, the Online Dictionary LEO, and the Neue Zürcher Zeitung.
