Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche (CNR)

Within ISTI, the Multimedia Networked Information Systems (MNIS) Lab conducts research on the processing, management, distribution, and fruition of composite information available through different media. MNIS consists of about 20 people, 12 staff, and is organized in three major research areas: Multimedia and XML Information Access, Information Retrieval, and Digital Libraries. The Digital Library group conducts research on Models and Query Languages, Architectures and Services and eLearning. It has a long experience on scientific and technological developments in the area of Cultural Heritage, also within European Projects. In the context of the 5FP, the group is coordinating the DELOS Network of Excellence on Digital Libraries, and the following Projects in the Digi-Cult area: SCHOLNET, ECHO, CYCLADES, Open Archive Forum, CLEF, D-Lib Competence Centre.
