Consorzio Forma (CF)
Consorzio FORMA was born in 1999 to develop applied researches of new metodologies aimed at management, preservation, and communication of cultural heritage. The projects promoted by Consorzio Forma come from the researches started in 1978 with the pioneristic work of Paola Barocchi at Scuola Normale Superiore di Pisa, in order to apply information technologies to Humanities.
The members of Consorzio Forma are: Scuola Normale Superiore, Pisa, Museo Nazionale del Cinema e della Fotografia, Torino, Centro Internazionale di Studi di Architettura "Andrea Palladio", Vicenza, Istituto di Studi e Analisi Economica, Roma, Istituto Nazionale di Studi sul Rinascimento, Firenze, Associazione Memofonte per Elaborazione Informatica delle Fonti Storico-artistiche, Firenze, Associazione Civita, Roma, Electa Divisione Musei e beni culturali, Roma.
During the years, Consorzio Forma achieved a great experience in projects of databases of texts (digitally reproduced, transcribed, indexed) and of images, related to archaeological, architectonical and monumental complexes or museums (http://pompei.sns.it). Consorzio Forma, moreover, contributed to the implementation of cultural heritage communication web sites, and directed masters in study, management, and exploitation of cultural heritage.
Consorzio Forma leaded the European project HELP, aimed at supporting the perception of artworks by visual impaired people, and now participates at the NoE DELOS, on Digital Libraries and has running projects about numismatic collections of the Medici family, Rome guides of XVIth and XVIIth centuries, the Basilica of Assisi and its restorations, and others.
