Schönbrunn Palace

Schönbrunn Palace is one of the most important cultural monuments in Austria and since the 1960s has also been one of the major tourist attractions in Vienna. The park and all the other attractions at Schönbrunn together see a further 5.2 million visitors each year, giving a grand total of 6.7 million visitors to the imposing palace complex each year. At the 20th session of the World Heritage Committee held in December1996 Schönbrunn Palace was put on the list of UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Sites, an institution founded in 1972.

Schloss Schönbrunn Kultur- und Betriebsges.m.b.H. has been responsible for managing the Palace since 1st October 1992. The organization is a limited-liability company, solely owned by the Republic of Austria. This Institution sees itself as a tertiary-sector enterprise seeking to offer the best possible service to its international customer base. The management's aim is to bring in the funds needed for renovation and maintenance of this priceless historic monument, while at the same time affording maximum protection to the Palace's historical substance. Schloss Schönbrunn Kultur- und Betriebsges.m.b.H. has demonstrated that innovative management, audience-focused marketing and curatorial competence only lead to the creation of profitable synergies in a context of international information exchange and expert staff training. The company is an expert in the field of contemporary and future-orientated management of cultural heritage. Schönbrunn Academy has been established to enable know-how and experience in the field to be transmitted at international level.
