The Information Retrieval Group, Department of Information Studies, University of Sheffield has had a strong presence in the EU fifth framework program through the projects CLARITY, MIND, and SPIRIT. In these projects the group focused on questions of multilingual and multimedia information retrieval and its applications in digital libraries.
