2006 European Museum of the Year Award

The European Museum Forum, under the Auspices of the Council of Europe, announces the 2006 European Museum Forum Award.

The event will be hosted at the Museu da Farmácia, Rua Marechal Saldanha, 1 - Lisbon, Portugal, 10-13 May 2006.

Since 1977 the European Museum Forum has been running the European Museum of the Year Award (EMYA) and the Council of Europe Museum Prize scheme in order to give recognition and visibility to outstanding cases of innovation in the museum field in interpreting the dynamics between museum and the public in different European social and cultural contexts.
More than 1500 museums have taken part in this scheme so far, giving EMF a great information asset and unrivalled experience in assessing museums, with special attention to the qualities of their physical environment, EMYA being based on a programme of personal visits to every single candidate.

Further information is available on the EMF website, http://assembly.coe.int/Museum.
